Birthday Celebration

Scott's parents helped Aaron and Helena to celebrate their second birthday a few days early during our visit. Some of Scott's extended family, Uncle Len, Aunt Judith, Aunt Millie and Aunt Greta, were able to join us as well. It was so nice for Aaron and Helena to have so many loved ones come to wish them a Happy Birthday.

"I guess I can stop eating my cake so you can take my picture."

"I wonder what this is?"

"I love my new Tigger."

Pool Time

One of Aaron and Helena's favorite activities to do during our visit was play in the pool. Before our trip,we bought swimmies in hopes that they would help the kids to play independently in the water. We were plesantly surprised that the kids loved them. By the end of our trip, both Aaron and Helena were moving through the water without any help from Mommy or Daddy.

Fun in Florida

Last week we traveled to sunny Florida to visit Scott's parents for a much needed vacation. We spent two mornings at Downtown Disney. Aaron and Helena loved playing on the slide right outside of the Lego store as well as riding the train and carousel. The weather was warm and the sun was bright, just what we needed for a few days!

By the time we left, Helena could climb up the wall instead of the stairs, just like the big kids

A Touch of Spring

Temperatures broke 50 degress last week in Connecticut and we just had to take Aaron and Helena outside to play! They received mini ATVs for Christmas and had no trouble riding them up and down our street. We had a blast!

Aaron smiled the whole time riding on his ATV

" I've got to catch Helena!"

"Look at me!"

Aaron and Helena couldn't resist playing in the melting snow!

Finger Painting

As winter continues to linger here in Connecticut, we have found many entertaining activities to engage Aaron and Helena while they are stuck inside. A new favorite is finger painting! At first both children did not like having their hands dirty, but they quickly got over it and painted several creative pictures for us. We had so many we couldn't fit them all on the refridgerator, a difficult diliema followed as we decided what to do with all of the lovely artwork our children produced.

Aaron creates a masterpiece

Following our morning of finger painting, Aaron decides that a Pampers Box is the perfect place for him to read a book. He sat there for at least 20 minutes with his blanket and books.

A Day with Cousins

Casey and Maya came over this week to play with Aaron and Helena. They were such a huge help and Aaron and Helena loved having their cousins to entertain and play with them all day!

This is Helena's new pose for the camera. No matter what you tell her, she puckers her lips to smile for the camera! Helena loved being with Maya and couldn't stop saying her name now that she can say all of the sounds.

Aaron loved trying to keep up with Casey. His favorite game was trying to catch Casey as they ran all over the house. Casey would then chase Aaron as he tried to run away! What fun!Aaron and Helena made it quite clear that they wanted Maya to read to them before their nap time. Maya is such a good cousin!

Sundae Fun

On Sunday, Grandma treated Aaron and Helena to a special sundae, it was their first ice cream sundae ever. They enjoyed trying to eat their treat as much as they enjoyed tasting the ice cream. It was fun to watch them to try and figure out how to even begin eating!

"This is pretty good!"

"I'll start with a small taste."

MMMM..ice cream!

"Maybe I can get this into my mouth."

Snow, Snow and More Snow!

We have had several snow events so far this year in Connecticut. Aaron and Helena have really "warmed up" to the idea of playing in the snow. On Martin Luther King Day, we spent almost 45 minutes playing in the snow.

It took some time to get used to walking through the snow, but Aaron and Helena got the hang of it quickly

The only part of playing in the snow that frustrated Aaron was when his gloves came off. He loves to shake the snow all around, but disappointingly his gloves easily fall off.

21 Months

Aaron and Helena are 21 months old now. They are both able to run, jump, and wrestle with one another. They have learned to use a fork and spoon fairly well and enjoy singing and dancing. Aaron continues to love making simple puzzles and creating tall towers with his blocks. Helena continues to nurture her babies and spend time with her Elmo Live doll. She also loves to color with her new crayons and Aquadoodle she recieved for Christmas. Both Aaron and Helena are talking more and more with each day and like to try to say every word they hear Mommy and Daddy say. What fun!

Aaron and Helena love to play in their pop-up tunnel, a treasured first birthday gift. They have so much fun crawling through after one another. It is a great toy to play with when the cold weather prevents us from being outside for too long.

What a charmer!
